Residency: Ophthalmology, North Carolina Baptist College, Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Frances L. Story, M.D., grew up in High Point, North Carolina. After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biology from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, Dr. Story earned her medical degree from Wake Forest University. She then completed her training at North Carolina Baptist Hospital and was the first female ophthalmology resident at North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Growing up nearsighted with astigmatism, Dr. Story can fully appreciate what it means when your world suddenly comes into focus. She became fascinated from the first time she was treated by an eye doctor and not just with the results, but with the process, as well. She wanted to know how he was able to do what he did. And what he did absolutely changed her life. From that day on, she knew eyecare was something she wanted to know more about, so she could help people in the same way that doctor was able to help her.

Dr. Story is one of the founding ophthalmologists at The Eye & Laser Center, establishing the practice in 1981. Dr. Story stays current with her practice by being an active member of the Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, South Carolina Medical Associations, and the South Carolina Society of Ophthalmology.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Story enjoys painting in watercolor and acrylic and doing other forms of art especially pottery. She enjoys traveling with family and good friends, especially if there is a beach nearby.
